Humanity was tested. Emissaries sent a century before a series of sentinel ships showed up and started communicating with our world governments. To them, we had chosen the best of our kind to represent and rule us. To the emissaries, we were already unworthy, and to our world leaders, well their position as the universal alpha and omega had just been destroyed.
Our definition of weapons only allowed for destruction, so when our rain and thunder started producing EMP's and increasing growth rates of forests exponentially, we had absolutely nothing prepared, nor could we learn quickly enough.
Now, gifted with a second chance and armed with the understanding of our true position, we have sent operatives to the four ARCS. Ships left behind by those who so understandably brought our production to a halt and our culture to new highs and lows we had never thought possible. From legend, the ARCS were left behind in the event that; A. we survived and B. grew to believe ourselves truly worthy of joining the universal organization that nearly wiped our species out.
Their early emissaries had observed our true selfishness, or at least the grand scale that was being practiced by our "most successful" representatives. Over the decades, since they had left us, we had come to understand that in order to be worthy of literally universal support, we must support our own kind universally. Every man, woman, and child is provided for to the best of our abilities. If by any chance they still have emissaries here, they hopefully will see how much we have changed, and how hard it has been for us to follow their orders. That is why I am here, that is why I will turn on this ARC, and with every ounce of my body, I only hope that this time, they find us worthy.
